Local Farmers - Growing for a Healthier Tomorrow

As the saying goes, “If you ate today - thank a farmer!

In school year 2021-2022 Frederick County Public Schools has purchased $81,109 worth of highly nutritious, in season, locally grown fruits and vegetables from the featured farms.

Community support of local agriculture helps Frederick farms grow! Purchasing directly from the farms strengthens the local food economy, health of the community, sustainability of the environment, and supports farmers and their families.

  • Serenity Grove Farm

    Serenity Grove Farm is a high density, small farm located in Frederick County between Mt Airy and New Market. Farmer Jenni believes that food should be “fun, fresh and affordable”. She offers a mixture of fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • Catoctin Mountain Orchard

    Located in Thurmont, MD, Catoctin Mountain Orchard offers a retail farm market and pick your own apples and berries at their orchard.

  • Dandelion & Rust Farm

    Dandelion & Rust Farm is a small farm on the hilly slopes of Frederick County, Maryland. Motivated by a love of food and a love for plants, they grow what inspires them! They offer a seasonal CSA for veggies and a pick your own flower CSA.

  • Moon Valley Farm

    Located in Woodsboro, MD, Moon Valley Farm offers weekly boxes of seasonal vegetables for home delivery or pick up in Maryland, DC, & northern Virginia. For Chefs, they deliver twice a week all year-round. Every year they also offer a plant sale for local gardeners!

  • Piece of Harmony Farm

    Located in Myersville, MD, Piece of Harmony Farm offers online ordering for their produce or in person shopping at the Myersville farmers market.

  • District Farms

    Located in Frederick County, District Farms is a hydroponic farm growing a variety of lettuces offered at select grocery stores year round.

  • Glade Link Farms

    Located in Keymar, MD, Glade Link Farms, offers pick your own fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Produce is available at the farmers market located at the Frederick Fairgrounds.

  • Chocolates & Tomatoes

    Located in Middletown, MD, Chocolates and Tomatoes Farm, offers online ordering for produce and chocolates.

  • Pleasant Hill Produce

    Located in Walkersville, Pleasant Hill Produce offers a CSA with a variety of fresh vegetables including berries, beans, parsnips, peas, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage and more.

  • Summer Creek Farm

    Located in Thurmont, Summer Creek Farm grows fresh organic produce for select grocery stores throughout the growing season.

  • Potomac Valley Organics

    Located in Union Bridge, MD, Potomac Valley Organics offers heritage breed beef, forest raised pork, and seasonal greens grown in the ground. The farm encourages seasonal eating and their greens are delivered 24 hours after harvest.

  • Good Dog Farm

    Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland and grows vegetables year-round thanks to their two high tunnels. They have a CSA and also sell crops wholesale.
