Karen Smith, Administrative Manager
Karen Smith has an extensive background in small businesses, and was an owner and employee of a local accounting business for 30 years. She is the author of the book, “I Didn’t See That Coming!”, which tells of her struggle after her husband’s unexpected death before the age of 50, and includes worksheets to help people organize, record, review and store the important documents that have a significant impact on the after-effects of a Life Event.
Karen held the role of both President and Treasurer of Women’s Business Network of Frederick for a number of years, and is a member of the Women’s Giving Circle and the 2014 class of Frederick County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Frederick County. She has spoken at various venues in the area about her experience in losing her husband and the importance of the concepts in her book. Karen recognizes the importance of nutrition and supporting local farmers. Karen possesses a strong proficiency in bookkeeping and excels at creating community connections, and is excited to use these skills to forward Farm to Schools mission. She and her husband live in Frederick County, and love to travel to the National Parks.
